Rakesh Patni

Rakesh Patni

Strategy and Business Development Director

Rakesh is an experienced entrepreneur and has a passion for business.  Born in a business family, he spent his formative years between London and Antwerp.  On graduation from high school, he made the unusual step of moving to Mumbai to complete an undergraduate degree in commerce from Mumbai University, simultaneously working in the factories and offices of one of the world’s leading diamond companies.  While in India, he began an inner journey of self-awareness and meditation that has continued to this day.

Upon graduation,at the age of 21, he decided to move back to Antwerp, and started a diamond brokerage business. Through hard graft, sheer will power, some skill and vision he managed to build an excellent reputation in the business community and the success followed over the next ten years.

In 2009, he made the difficult decision to leave Antwerp where ultimately trading and brokering deals was no longer satisfying. He was seeking for something more. He moved to London where he worked as a consultant to SME’s which was initially rewarding but ultimately left him thirsting for something more.

It was time to take a year off from work to reflect, to meet new people and add another page to his international experiences, hence he decided to complete his MBA from Insead Business School in Fontainebleau, France. He graduated from Insead in the summer of 2013 and soon involved himself in the work of ConsciousLab – the time was ripe to join the inner journey with the outer work by combining his passion for mediation and self-awareness and his love for business.

Rakesh is working on developing himself into what he calls the integral individual; a person who is constantly evolving in four distinct spheres: the conscious ‘inner self’, the personal (intellectual, emotional and physical), the professional, and the social/philanthropic.

Harsh Thapar

Harsh Thapar

Harsh,an Architect and Environmentalist, believes that sensitive design can go a very long way to make peoples life better. He is an expert in Sustainable Design and has worked in leading architectural practices in India and UK. Presently he is an Associate, at Foster+Partners, London.

According to Harsh, new challenges today, await new interpretations and solutions. As climate changes, environment degrades and natural resources become scarce, the notion of business as usual has to be challenged in all spheres of human endeavour. From purely market driven agenda, design and business needs to address pressing problems based on a higher consciousness.

Having been associated with ConsciousLab from the very start in 2012, Harsh is working to explore the ideas of conscious business, creative interaction and collaborative action as they apply through the work of ConsciousLab. He is the creator of the ConsciousLab blog and brings creative design and digital inputs into the events.

Using an extract from the Conscious Capitalism website, “Conscious Capitalism is a way of thinking about capitalism and business that better reflects where we are in the human journey, the state of our world today, and the innate potential of business to make a positive impact on the world. Conscious businesses are galvanized by higher purposes that serve, align, and integrate the interests of all their major stakeholders. Their higher state of consciousness makes visible to them the interdependencies that exist across all stakeholders, allowing them to discover and harvest synergies from situations that otherwise seem replete with trade-offs. They have conscious leaders who are driven by service to the company’s purpose, all the people the business touches and the planet we all share together. Conscious businesses have trusting, authentic, innovative and caring cultures that make working there a source of both personal growth and professional fulfilment. They endeavour to create financial, intellectual, social, cultural, emotional, spiritual, physical and ecological wealth for all their stakeholders.” This summarises her involvement in ConsciousLab and its aim to raise consciousness in business.
